Thramer CTS Heddon Series

CTS Heddon Series by Thramer Rods

This is another of the two production rod maker tapers we offer. As is the case with the Granger rods, there is a limited supply and the prices are increasing as buyers have finally started realizing Heddon tapers are every bit as sophisticated as any of the high end East Coast makers, The quality is very high and consistent, especially if you look at the #20, #35 and #50 series of rods. Heddon did have a few issues, mostly centered around the ferrules. They had a habit of becoming loose due to deterioration of the glue and their method of slitting the ferrules lead to cracks. Neither of these issues being a problem in a Thramer made reproduction rod. The supply of good used rods is becoming very scarce in the lighter rods; exactly the rods we see the most interest in now.

How Heddon managed to deliver this level of quality at their production level is something of a wonder. Only a skilled managerial staff, an extremely skilled labor force, combined with what could only be described as a ruthless level of quality control, could Heddon have achieved what they did.
