Thramer CTS Garrison Series

Garrison tapers are readily available and "The Bible" has influenced rod building since it's publication in the 1970's. Nearly all the influences were very positive, with only a few negative influences.

In the Positive, we have reached an unparalleled accuracy in taper dimension. Access to rod building has been greatly expanded and the quality of rod building has been greatly improved.

In the negative, developing a taper without the assistance of a computer, has all but been lost. Some taper designs, such as Garrison's, do not require a drop across the ferrules. A specific rule has been applied as a general dictum in almost all cases. The general hesitance  to ferrule closer to the diameter of the blank is a direct result of Garrison's influence.

These rods are very plain in appearance, hiding their sophistication. When lawn casting, as is often done at a rod gathering, a Garrison rod will not wow you. During a lawn casting, they require a bit of skill to time. This is their greatest deception! When these rods are actually used as a fishing instrument, they are very hard to beat. The taper disappears into the background and you find yourself fishing without giving the rod a second thought.
